Orioles Minor League Spotlight: Christian Walker, Buck Britton

PressBox spotlights some of the top players in the Orioles' minor league system during the past week.

CHRISTIAN WALKER, FIRST BASEMAN, DOUBLE-A BOWIE

After being named Eastern League Player of the Week April 13-20, Walker continued his tear this season by extending his hitting streak to 10 straight games before going hitless April 23. Walker had five multi-hit games during his streak, culminating with an 11-1 win against Erie April 22 during which he collected three hits, one walk, one grand slam and two runs scored. He is now batting .316 this season. He is tied for the lead on the Baysox in RBIs (14) and ranks second on the team in hits (25), home runs (three) and runs scored (13).

BUCK BRITTON, SECOND BASEMAN, DOUBLE-A BOWIE

Britton has been a multifaceted weapon for the Baysox's offense early during the 2014 season. During a 9-4 victory against Erie April 21, Britton went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. He is currently second on the Baysox in batting average (.370) and OPS (.952), while he leads the team in at bats (81), hits (30), runs scored (18), home runs (four) and stolen bases (two).
