Will The Ravens Make Zack Martin Their First-round NFL Draft Pick?Posted on April 30, 2014 by Ken Zalis
As the NFL Draft gets closer and closer, let's take a look at some of the players the Ravens could be selecting with the 17th overall pick May 8. I will count down from No. 10 to No. 1 in the order of least likely to most likely.
Who: Zack Martin
What: Offensive tackle from Notre Dame, 6-foot-4, 308 pounds
Why: Martin is versatile. He played guard and tackle in college, but he will most likely be a guard at the NFL level because of his short arms and slow foot speed.
How: Martin should be there at 17 when the Ravens pick, unless the tackles start flying off the board in the top 10, and the Giants, who need offensive line help, grab him at 12.
When: I am not so sure that Martin fits exactly what the Ravens are trying to do. He's not a great zone blocker, because of mobility issues. He's more of a mauler. I would be surprised if Martin is the Ravens' pick at 17, as many have suggested he might be. He could go to Miami at 19.
One week after the O's parted ways with first baseman Steve Pearce, they welcomed him back to the fold and signed him to a major league deal April 29.
