Changes In Store For WNST; Anita Marks Lands New Show

August 25, 2014

Nestor Aparicio, owner and afternoon host at Baltimore sports talker WNST, 1570 AM, promises that big changes will come to his station after Labor Day.

On Aug. 22, Aparicio wrote on website: "Today, I announced the departure of several veteran folks -- Drew Forrester, Glenn Clark, Ryan Chell and my office staff of general manager Paul Kopelke and Ashley Bishoff  -- in effort to create a basic change in the way we're doing content and our radio format at and AM 1570. They came to work every day and they gave everything they had to WNST. They're good, hard-working, honest people and I wish them absolutely nothing but the best in their future."

In his lengthy message, Aparicio remained vague on just what WNST will sound like after the changes have been made.

"We're going to be doing things a bit differently starting on Tuesday, September 2nd," Aparicio wrote. "I promise that what you'll be hearing in the future is a quality conversation with a Baltimore flair, plus sports content, information and analysis that is the most intelligent in the marketplace."

Former Baltimore sports radio host Anita Marks will join former Washington Redskins London Fletcher and Fred Smoot as a new studio analyst for CBS Sports Network's "That Other Pregame Show."

The Sunday pro football pregame show kicks off Sept. 7, and will air from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday.

Marks, who currently does a show for NBC Sports Radio, used to be heard on 105.7 The Fan, WJZ-FM. She also contributes to the New York Giants broadcast team and Bleacher Report.

In addition to her broadcasting duties, she also played five years of women's professional football as quarterback for the Miami Fury and Florida Stingrays.

CBS sports talker WJZ-FM, 105.7 The Fan, placed 11th in the July radio ratings for the Baltimore market.

Hearst news talker WBAL, 1090 AM, which carries sports talk in evenings and is the Orioles flagship, jumped up to sixth place, due in part to the team's winning ways.
