A new crop of interns has joined the PressBox team, like the blogospheric equivalents of Matt Wieters and Chris Tillman, to restore an institution to its former greatness.
You may be wondering, “Why should I listen to the opinions of some lowly interns when every sports journalist in America has a blog these days?” It's a legitimate question, but here's my answer: we lowly interns have something to offer that the Rick Reilly's and Stephen A. Smith's of the world cannot.
We have no ins. We don't get to mingle with sports' elites in the locker room or the box suites. Heck, we don't even get paid. But is there anyone with whom the common sports fan can relate to better than an intern? After all, we only started working here this summer. A few weeks ago, we were just sports fans ourselves.
We are Shane Falco. We are Rick Dempsey on a rainy day. In short, we are interns. |
