• Now It Can Be Told: Secret Service agents say Michaele and Tareq Salahi were definitely NOT the first persons on the scene at the Tiger Woods emergency.

• Redoubtable Roadrunner: There is more than a little bit of the great Barry Sanders in the Ravens running back Ray Rice, except the second-year man is stronger than the magnificent eluder of seasons past.

• Bonus Too Soon: When Clemson won its way into the ACC championship game a couple weeks back, freshman coach Dabo Swinney got what amounted to a $1 million raise. After getting stomped by archrival South Carolina last week, the Tigers may ask for the money back.

• Fashion Statement: Is any article of clothing in the world uglier than the flapping laundry sacks of a men’s basketball uniform?

• Marching Home: Vince Young’s 99-yard drive in 2:37 to boost Tennessee over Arizona had Unitas and Montana written all over it, especially the three fourth-down conversions. Former Raven Chris Redman’s last-down bullet pass to give Atlanta the victory over Tampa Bay was no slouch either.
