Dec. 7, 2009: Texas, Alabama To Play For BCS Title

Texas needed every second -- literally -- to take down the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but regardless of how ugly it was, the Longhorns won and punched their ticket to the BCS Championship game. Not many early predictions have Texas winning it all, however, after Alabama looked much more like a national champion in the Crimson Tide's thumping of Florida in the SEC title game.

Cincinnati fans were rooting for Nebraska Saturday night, but as Hunter Lawrence's kick squeezed through the uprights as time expired -- again -- the Bearcats' dream of a title shot went up in smoke. The undefeated Big East champions will face the Florida Gators in the Sugar Bowl.

Two other undefeated teams got BCS bids, but not the BCS bid they wanted. Boise State and TCU will battle in the Fiesta Bowl, with the winner claiming they deserve national championship consideration.

The Rose Bowl, while no longer "The Grandaddy of Them All" does offer a good matchup between Big Ten champion Ohio State and Pac-10 champion Oregon while Iowa and Georgia Tech will play in the Orange Bowl.
