ACC Lacrosse Tournament Comes to College Park
By Tom Peace
The four-team ACC lacrosse tournament comes to College Park this weekend, and this year's event is as highly anticipated as any in the past. The semifinal games begin April 23 with No. 1 Virginia vs. No. 4 Duke at 5 p.m. and No. 2 North Carolina vs. No. 3 Maryland at 7:30 p.m. The championship game is April 25 at 3:30 p.m.
The Maryland Terrapins will be looking for revenge when they face off with Billy Bitter and the North Carolina Tar Heels. The last time these two teams met the Tar Heels won, 9-7, in Chapel Hill.
The Duke Blue Devils have won the last three ACC championships. To capture their fourth in a row, they will need to defeat the University of Virginia Cavaliers for the second time in a one-week span. Last Saturday, the Blue Devils defeated the Cavaliers, 13-9, snapping Virginia's 15-game home win streak. The streak dated back to April 12, 2008, when UVA lost to Duke, 19-9, and had been the nation’s longest home win streak.
