Ex-Ravens On Interesting QB List

By Joe Platania

An interesting list showed up on ESPN.com earlier this week. Naturally, given the parent company, it had to do with Brett Favre, but it also contained three familiar names to Ravens fans.

Apparently, folks thought it would be great to list the 10 best quarterbacks to ever throw an interception with the last passes of their careers, as Favre has allegedly done the past two years before launching comebacks.

On that list are ex-Ravens Jim Harbaugh, Scott Mitchell and Kordell Stewart at numbers 7, 8 and 10, respectively. The interesting thing about Stewart is his final pass was thrown in 2003 before spending parts of '04 and '05 in Baltimore without throwing a pass.

Other quarterbacks on the list include Sonny Jurgensen, George Blanda, Ken Stabler, Drew Bledsoe, Phil Simms, Trent Green and Jake Plummer.

VISITING COACHES: Usually during training camp coaches from small-college teams and Canadian Football League squads are allowed to visit to evaluate talent and take notes on the Ravens' practice techniques.

But Aug. 2, two of the area's heavy hitters will be in Westminster. Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen and Navy's Ken Niumatalolo are scheduled to be at the Ravens' morning session. They will also meet with the media after practice to promote the "Crab Bowl" between the two teams at 4 p.m. Sept. 6 at M&T Bank Stadium. The game will be shown on ESPN.

Five years ago, Maryland and Navy met at M&T for the first time since the mid-60s. Navy held the lead until late in the game, when the Terps rallied to win, 21-20. The schools first met in 1905, but have only played each other a total of 20 times. Navy has a 14-6 lifetime lead in the series.
