Maryland High Schoolers Make Inside Lacrosse Top 50 List

By Todd McElwee

Inside Lacrosse's Top 50 Young Gun (High School) Seniors is a sneak peak of the best of what's to come on the college field. As usual, Maryland, particularly metropolitan Baltimore, was well represented within the recruiting rankings.

Maryland placed nine prospects, eight of which stem from an MIAA A Conference school, on the charts. New York leads all states with 16 representatives, followed by Maryland, Pennsylvania (eight), Massachusetts (six), Connecticut (four) and New Jersey (two). California, Colorado, Georgia, Ohio and Washington, D.C., each had one representative.

Calvert Hall (four) trailed only New York power St. Anthony's (five) in prospects. The Cardinals claim the seventh-, 18th-, 37th- and 42nd-ranked seniors in attackman Patrick Kelly, defenseman Evan Connell, attackman Ryan Brown and midfielder Kelton Black.

Kelly and Connell have committed to North Carolina, while Brown and Black selected Johns Hopkins.

Chapel Hill is becoming a destination for Charm City talent. St. Paul's middie Spencer Parks (four) is slated to join the Calvert Hall tandem, as well as Gilman middie Jake Matthai (20) as Tar Heels. North Carolina had commitments from a list-best nine players.

Loyola Blakefield middie Deemer Class (10) is headed to Duke. Landon middie Charlie Schnider (28) is bound for Maryland. Boy's Latin attackman Greg Pyke (48) has signed to play football at Georgia.

Hopkins and Maryland each had five players on the list, while Navy claimed one.

The complete list can be found here.
