Markakis Not Showing Signs Of Strain After Homer
Nick Markakis maintained that he would be fine come Opening Day, and he's proving himself correct. Markakis hit a two-run home run during the first inning and followed that up with a walk during the fourth.
Before the season opener, Orioles manager Buck Showalter said his preference would have been for Markakis to have his abdominal surgery earlier during the offseason, but he trusted Marakis to know his body.
The Orioles are up 3-0 right and now Markakis has scored two of the runs. When he's healthy and is in the middle of a supportive lineup, Markakis can be a dangerous player.
Edited to add: He added an RBI triple in the sixth. Yep, he's just fine.
