Ravens To Go With A Pass Rusher In The First Round?
By Matt Zenitz
It's no secret Ozzie Newsome loves players from his alma mater, Alabama, and the Ravens are apparently one of about seven teams showing the most interest in former Crimson Tide pass rusher Courtney Upshaw, according to Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times.
Upshaw, who could play either outside linebacker in a 3-4 or defensive end in a 4-3, is a projected mid- to late-first-round pick.
One of the leaders of the Crimson Tide's top-ranked defense this past season, the 6-foot-2, 272-pound Upshaw is a fiery, tough and instinctive player, who is not only a top pass rusher, but also solid against the run.
He was a first-team All-SEC selection this past season after posting 52 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss and 9.5 sacks.
He had 52 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss and seven sacks as a junior in 2010.
Check out Upshaw for yourself. Here is a complete scouting report of Upshaw from ProFootballWeekly, and here is a clip with some of his highlights from last season.
