ART MODELL IS BORN; DANIEL WILCOX BECOMES A RAVEN

1925 -- Ravens minority owner Arthur B. Modell, the franchise's majority owner from 1961-2004, before Steve Bisciotti's purchase of the team, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.

1966 -- The Baltimore Colts traded a 1968 fifth-round draft pick to the Cleveland Browns for punter David Lee, who went on to hold down that job in Baltimore for the next 13 seasons.

1966 -- The Colts traded guard Jim Carter for a 12th-round pick in 1967. With that pick, the team selected Illinois running back Preston Pearson, who went on to play in three Super Bowls for three different teams.

1975 -- The NFL did away with rotating host cities for postseason games by division basis. The league instituted a plan that had the teams with the best winning percentage host games instead.

1985 -- Ravens third-string quarterback Curtis Painter was born in Vincennes, Ind.

1989 -- Offensive lineman and 2012 second-round pick Kelechi Osemele was born in Houston.

1997 -- Former University of Tennessee running back and third-round pick Jay Graham officially became a Raven when he agreed to a three-year deal. Graham gained 154 yards during a November game that year as the Ravens played the only tie game in franchise history, a 10-10 affair with the Philadelphia Eagles.

1998 -- Second-round draft pick and former Oregon speedster Patrick Johnson signed his rookie deal with the team. Johnson had four separate stints with the Ravens, but his biggest highlight was catching a 2000 touchdown pass in Tennessee during the fourth quarter, which helped the Ravens become the first team to win in the Titans' new stadium.

2004 -- The Ravens signed street free agent and former Appalachian State tight end Daniel Wilcox, who went on to play five years for the Ravens and caught quarterback Joe Flacco's first-ever NFL touchdown pass.

2006 -- Former Notre Dame safety Gerome Sapp, originally a 2003 sixth-round draft pick, returned to the Ravens as part of a trade with the Indianapolis Colts.

2009 -- The Ravens signed rookie free-agent linebacker Tony Fein to a contract. Approximately two months after Fein, who had served in Afghanistan, was released from the team in final cuts, he was found dead in his apartment at the age of 27.

2010 -- Veteran NFL safety Ken Hamlin, who had played for the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks, signed an unrestricted free-agent deal with Baltimore.
