Orioles Reportedly Close To Deal With Randy Wolf
Veteran pitcher Randy Wolf might not be out of work for long. According to several reports, the starter could be close to signing with the Orioles.
The Orioles are just two days removed from acquiring Joe Saunders in a trade with the Diamondbacks. The Brewers released Wolf a week ago. He has given up the most earned runs of any National League pitcher, and is tied for the most hits allowed. He, like Saunders, is a left-hander.
Dan Duquette, the Orioles' executive vice president of baseball operations, said the club added Saunders because of the left-handed lineups the Orioles would be facing down the stretch. Wolf's potential signing would follow that line of thinking. The Orioles are trying to convert Brian Matusz into a reliever to face lefties as well.
