Late-Game Surge Not Enough For Orioles In Loss To Blue Jays
Mark Reynolds hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning Wednesday, but was it was not enough, as the Orioles lost to the Blue Jays, 6-4.
The Orioles fell a game behind the Yankees in the American League East. New York won, 6-4, against the Rays and begin a four-game series at Camden Yards tomorrow.
Miguel Gonzalez took the loss for Baltimore, giving up seven hits and five runs during 6.1 innings. The Orioles and Blue Jays were tied at two runs a piece from the third inning until the seventh, when Toronto's Adeiny Hechavarria bunted, scoring Yunel Escobar off Gonzalez. Rajal Davis followed with a two-RBI single off Luis Ayala. Those runs were charged to Gonzalez.
Adam Jones hit a solo home run for the Orioles in the second and Reynolds' home run was his sixth during the past six games.
