Orioles Officially Call Up Dylan Bundy
The Orioles are pulling off a shocker by calling up 2011 first-round pick Dylan Bundy. Bundy dominated in the Orioles' minor league system this season on the mound, but Orioles officials said in late August that they were going to leave him in Double-A Bowie.
The Orioles officially confirmed the promotion at noon today. He will be the first Oriole to make his debut before his 20th birthday since Mike Adamson in 1967.
In Single and Double-A play, Bundy was 9-3 with a 2.08 ERA in 23 starts. He was named to Baseball America's minor league All-American team.
The move adds a sense of urgency to the Birds' season. The Orioles, now tied with the Yankees atop the AL East, called up 2010 first-round pick Manny Machado late during the summer, and the move paid off. Bundy's promotion says the Orioles are going for the division and something much larger this fall.
