Let Me Get This Straight
Let me try to get this straight this time. Despite what some folks may believe, I take a great deal of pride in stating my opinions intelligently and having the facts to back up those opinions. It now appears I didn’t do a good job of this in my column entitled Do New Faces Equal New Culture?
In writing an opinion based column and attempting to buttress the major thrust of the column, about the need for the Ravens to have an improved clubhouse culture under John Harbaugh, I relayed a story that was told to me, as a sign that Coach Harbaugh might have a recalcitrant Ray Lewis on his hands.
In the column I couched the portion of my column that has come under attack in the terminology needed to cover ones’ backside. I said if this particular story about Ray Lewis being upset over different locker assignments and smaller space were true that the club needed to move fast to usher in a new era.
I have been now told by club PR personnel that all of the facts of my story are inaccurate. I have been told that Ray Lewis was not upset about anything having to do with his locker, that he didn’t leave the facility, that he did practice for two days and that the only players who didn’t practice were those excused by Coach Harbaugh.
I have no reason no believe the Ravens are not being truthful. Hopefully, this will put the issue to rest. Also, if this has been incorrect on all levels, maybe the response to my column inside the Ravens camp is a solid sign that there is an improved culture developing already.
