As Maryland prepares to play NC State in the opening round of the ACC Tournament, Terps center Jordan Williams has already started racking up postseason honors, earning spots on both the FOXSports.com and Yahoo! Sports All-America basketball teams as well as the All-ACC team.
Williams, who tops the ACC and ranks third nationally in rebounding (11.6 per game), was a third-team selection in the all-America teams and a first teamer on the All-ACC voting. The sophomore set a new single-season school record with 23 double-doubles.
Joining Williams on the first team is Virginia Tech's Malcolm Delaney, Boson College's Reggie Jackson and Duke's Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith, the only unanimous selection to the first team and also a member of the conference's all-defense team.
For the first time in league history, the outright ACC regular-season champion failed to place any players on the first team. North Carolina did have three players make the second team and another on the third team.
North Carolina's Tyler Zeller, John Henson and Harrison Barnes are on the second team and Kendall Marshall is a third-team selection. The Tar Heels are the first regular season champions to have no players on the first team.
