Hopkins Back In Top 10 After Defeating Loyola
By Todd McElwee
Book me the next flight to Vegas, because I'm untouchable lately when it comes to picking games. The hot streak started two weeks back when I picked the Florida women to knock off top-seeded Northwestern. Last weekend, I tabbed Lehigh to win its first Patriot League title and Salisbury to claim its 17th Capital Athletic Conference championship. The Mountain Hawks and Sea Gulls both prevailed.
But enough about my brilliance. The game of the weekend, if not the year, took place April 28 at the Ridley Athletic Complex, with Johns Hopkins knocking Loyola from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 10-9 overtime victory, thanks to a dramatic Rob Guida tally.
How great would a Final Four contest, or better yet, NCAA championship game, between the Charles Street neighbors be? The Blue Jays jump back into the top 10, while the Greyhounds stay put at No. 2; it's hard to penalize a team for an overtime loss against a title contender.
