Before completely becoming immersed in Major League Lacrosse, let's cap off collegiate lacrosse coverage with the first Lacrosse Report Awards, recognizing the best in both men's and women's collegiate lacrosse. Note, the players are eligible for only one award and cash prizes might be awarded, but just not by us.

Best Uniforms: Maryland men's black jerseys
The Lacrosse Report celebrates anything prominently featuring the Maryland flag, whether it's a can of Natty Boh or sporting attire.

Upset Of The Year: Navy 8, No. 6 Johns Hopkins 2
With their season coming to an end, the Midshipmen completely dismantled the Blue Jays in Annapolis April 21, holding the visiting team to its lowest goal total since 1966.

Biggest Disappointment: America East Conference

Goal Of The Year: Reid Acton, May 4, ECAC championship game -- Loyola 14, Fairfield 7

Freshman Of The Year: Emily Doyle, Richmond, middie
Tallying 19 goals and 31 assists isn't a bad introduction.

Goaltender Of The Year: Mikey Meagher, Florida, sophomore
Meagher paced the nation in save percentage (53.7) and goals-against average (7.04) while helping the Gators to the ALC championship and Final Four.

Defender Of The Year: Kevin Randall, Notre Dame, senior
Thanks largely to Randall's efforts, the Irish boasted one of the stingiest defenses in the game while advancing to championship weekend for the second time during the past three years.

Long-Stick Midfielder Of The Year: C.J. Costabile, Duke, senior
The hero of the 2010 NCAA finals is one of the most versatile players in the game.

Midfielder Of The Year: Katie Schwarzmann, Maryland, junior
The Century graduate had 72 goals and 22 assists while also picking up 31 ground balls  and winning 52 draws. She is the 2012 ACC Offensive Player of the Year and received her third straight all-conference selection. She paced the Terrapins with a tournament-record 11 goals during their run to the ACC tournament title, earning MVP honors.

Attacker Of The Year: Peter Baum, Colgate, junior 
His 97 points were 17 clear of second-place Steele Stanwick (Virginia), while his 67 goals where 13 ahead of Loyola's Eric Lusby. 

Women's Coach Of The Year: Gary Gait, Syracuse
The living legend took 'Cuse further than anyone expected, all the way to the NCAA championship game.

Men's Coach Of The Year: Charley Toomey, Loyola
Was there any other choice? 

Women's Player Of The Year: Shannon Smith, Northwestern, senior, middie/attack
The reigning Tewaaraton Award winner paced the Wildcats in scoring with 66 goals and 28 assists, helping Northwestern to its seventh national title. 

Men's Player Of The Year: Eric Lusby, Loyola, senior, attack
Returning from an injury suffered against Cornell during the opening round of the 2010 NCAA tournament, attackman Lusby delivered a program-record 54 goals this season, 17 of which came during a record-setting NCAA tournament. He was named as the event's Most Outstanding Player.

Team Of The Year: Three-way tie -- Loyola men, Northwestern women, Salisbury men
