Westervelt Recognized For Offensive Breakout
Attackman Drew Westervelt has been named the Major League Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week after registering a season-best five points (four goals, one assist) during a 15-7 home victory against the Charlotte Hounds 9. He also earned Bud Light MVP honors. The UMBC alumnus has 17 points and leads Chesapeake with seven assists.
Seven Bayhawks Selected As All-Stars
Chesapeake is sending seven players -- more than any other MLL team -- to the 12th-annual MLL All-Star Game at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla., June 30. This year's contest will feature the "Young Guns vs. Old School" format, in which MLL veterans will compete against players that entered the league in 2009 or later. Midfielder Ben Hunt and defenseman Mike Evans are part of the whippersnappers, while Westervelt, midfielders Steven Brooks and Kyle Dixon, and defensemen Nicky Polanco and Brian Spallina will play for the old farts.
