Brian Roberts Heads Back To DL
Brian Roberts has spent more games on the disabled list than off of it during the last two seasons, so it'll come as little surprise that Roberts was placed on it again July 3.
Roberts, who returned to the club in early June after battling concussion symptoms, has a groin strain that is placing him on the 15-day DL. It is retroactive to July 2. Roberts was batting just .182 during 17 games with the Birds.
Speedster Xavier Avery, who has been on the Orioles roster several times this season, was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk. During 18 games, he has batted .222.
Roberts has not looked like the two-time All-Star he was before the concussions. Once one of the premier leadoff hitters in the game, he is scuffling badly. The Orioles needed an answer at the top of the order, and he has not come close to providing it for the now-struggling Orioles.
