Right Time For Mark Reynolds To Catch Fire
Mark Reynolds hit two home runs Tuesday as the Orioles pounded the Red Sox, 7-1. Reynolds, who is batting a paltry .215 for the Birds this season, is starting to catch a little fire, with three homers during the last six games and seven RBIs.
Reynolds simply hasn't delivered during his two-year Oriole career, but if his bat catches fire while the Orioles are in the wild-card hunt, that can only be a good thing.
Reynolds has been on the positive end of manager Buck Showalter's infinite patience this season. Think of another player with a longer leash on this team. It's as if Showalter and the Orioles are banking on the moment to come from Reynolds. When it does, everyone's going to see why he was on the team and playing each day.
For right now, Tuesday night was a welcome sight for Orioles fans, and it would be great for them if more was on the horizon.
