Orioles Trying To Acquire Juan Pierre?
The Orioles are reportedly in some talks with the Phillies about acquiring Juan Pierre in a trade.
CBSSports.com reported the Orioles' interest in Pierre, who leads off for the Phillies and has 34 steals this season, which is fifth in the major leagues. The Orioles are without right fielder Nick Markakis after he broke his thumb when a CC Sabathia pitch hit him Saturday. Markakis has been batting in the leadoff spot for the Orioles since the All-Star break and is expected to have surgery on the thumb within the next day.
Pierre is batting .304, with a .344 on-base percentage. He has 14 extra-base hits.
