Orioles Win 16th Straight Extra-Inning Game
Jim Thome hit a ground-rule double to drive in the winning run as the Orioles took a 9-6 win against the Red Sox in Boston.
The 12-inning victory was the 16th straight in extra innings for the Birds. Tommy Hunter worked the 11th to get the victory and Jim Johnson recorded his 47th save of the season.
Mark Reynolds and Adam Jones homered for the Orioles. Ryan Flaherty drove in two runs for the Birds.
The Yankees beat the Athletics in extra innings, maintaining their one-game lead against the Orioles in the AL East.
