Orioles Could Be a Playoff Team By End Of Weekend
Nursing a one-game lead against Oakland in the American League wild-card standings, the Orioles are in position to claim a spot in the postseason for the first time since 1997 by the end of the weekend.
The Orioles, who begin a home series with the Red Sox tonight, are also one game behind the Yankees in the AL East.
At 89-67 with six games left, the Orioles are holding off the Athletics (88-68), the Angels (86-70) and the Rays (86-70) in the wild-card chase. The Orioles have a magic number of four to be in the playoffs.
Barring a collapse reminiscent of last year's Boston team, it's looking more and more likely that people will be watching playoff baseball in Baltimore next week.
