Orioles Sweep Red Sox, 6-3
Nate McLouth, J.J. Hardy and Chris Davis each homered to give the Orioles a 6-3 victory and a sweep of the Red Sox Sept. 30.
Jim Johnson recorded his 50th save of the season by working a scoreless ninth inning. Starter Joe Saunders threw 7.1 innings and surrendered just three runs on eight hits.
McLouth led off the Orioles' half of the first with his homer. Hardy scored on a fielder's choice during the first, which was followed by a Jim Thome single that scored Davis. Hardy hit his home run to lead off the third inning. Thome then came up later in the inning to drive in Adam Jones, who reached on an infield single.
During the fifth inning, Davis hit his 31st homer of the year to the right-center bleachers. It was the fourth straight game that Davis hit at least one home run.
The Red Sox scored in the fourth on a Cody Ross homer off Saunders.
Daniel Nava hit a two-run homer for Boston in the seventh, cutting Baltimore's lead to 6-3. But the Orioles' bullpen held the Red Sox down for the final two innings and secured the victory.
