Hardy, Jones And Wieters Are Gold Glove Finalists
The Orioles have announced that shortstop J.J. Hardy, center fielder Adam Jones and catcher Matt Wieters have been named 2012 Rawlings Gold Glove finalists at their respective positions.
Wieters should be an odds-on-favorite to claim his second straight award at catcher. He had 10 errors in 2012, which was second most in the majors, but it was nearly impossible for opposing runners to successfully steal on him.
Hardy, who has never won a Gold Glove, should have by now. This season he had the best fielding percentage amongst shortstops at .992 and he committed a league-low six errors.
Jones won a Gold Glove earlier during his career, but had eight errors, which was tied for the most among outfielders in the majors.
