Johns Hopkins continues to make its mark in the Centennial Conference, finishing 8-3 in 2010, earning a share of the Centennial Conference title, and defeating Lebanon Valley, 44-14, in the ECAC South Atlantic Bowl. It marked the sixth Centennial title and the fourth ECAC Championship for the Blue Jays since 2002.
Eleven Blue Jays grabbed those 2010 All-Centennial Team honors, including a league-high seven first-team honorees. Three of the players have ended their Blue Jays careers -- defensive lineman Devin Collins (first team), place kicker Alex Lachman (first team) and offensive lineman Ryan Lino (second team).
Those eight returning all-conference players, all seniors, are wide receiver Sam Wernick (Centennial Offensive Player of the Year, first team), quarterback Hewitt Tomlin (first team), offensive lineman Ed Rodger (first team), linebacker Ryan Piatek (first team), defensive back Mike Milano (first team), offensive lineman Doug Drummond (second team), defensive back Sam Eagleson (second team) and linebacker Tyler Brown (second team).
Johns Hopkins is ranked 20th in Division III in the Sporting News preseason poll. Senior wide receiver Sam Wernick, who had 69 receptions for 1,265 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2010, made the magazine's preseason All-America team.
With eight all-conference players returning for their senior seasons at Johns Hopkins, the Blue Jays are favored to once again capture the conference championship.
