The Orioles established Shannon's Fund with a $50,000 endowment at the University of Maryland Medical Center to provide financial assistance to cancer patients and their families. Created in memory of Shannon Obaker -- the team's director of community outreach who bravely fought cancer for more than a year before passing away in January 2007 at age 29. Money will be used for cancer patients and their family members as needs arise to assist with the general expenses associated with the treatment process, including hospital parking, alternate housing, food costs and household bills. The Ray Lewis Foundation raises funds provide personal and economic assistance to disadvantaged youth. Every year, Lewis hosts a “back to school” kickoff event and the Ray Lewis Great Maryland Duck Derby. The Rolle With Me Foundation, veteran cornerback Samari Rolle's charitable arm, provides helping hands to those in need. With funds raised through several annual events, the non-profit organization purchases Thanksgiving dinners for families in need, provides equipment for youth athletic leagues and donates book bags and school supplies to underprivileged children.

Hailing from a family of firefighters (father, grandfather, great-grandfather, three uncles), Kyle Boller helps families of firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty, in addition to promoting fire safety and assisting active duty Baltimore area firefighters and policemen.

In 2005, Melvin began the Melvin Mora Foundation in Venezuela to fund educational, medical and other needs in his native Venezuela. The primary role of the foundation is to collect baseball equipment and clothing for low income, disadvantaged kids.  Melvin’s foundation has done so much in just the past three years. They collected items from Chico Company and Gerber for 200 pregnant, at risk and low income mothers, and presented them with these gifts at a special ceremony.
