Front Row: From The Cheap Seats

Edited By Larry Harris

Tragedy: It didn't make many news outlets, but former Baltimore Colts kicker Toni Linhart, who has been a credit to this city, lost his home to fire recently. About the only things saved were a few game balls from long ago.

Don't Miss It: Every high school coach in the area should check in to and order the two-DVD instructional set the Baltimore Colts' Hall of Fame receiver created. Berry put it together from original game films that are grainy-but-perfect examples of how to run the pass patterns that made him legend.

Big Switch: For those who wondered, the Humanitarian Bowl, played on Boise's blue turf, has changed its name to the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. That's right up there with the Poulan Weed-Eater Independence Bowl that Maryland once played in.

Sasquatch: Missy Franklin, the latest U.S. swim prodigy who is drowning the competition during lead-ups to the 2012 Olympics, is a 6-foot teenager who may have an unfair advantage in the pool. Her natural flippers are Size 13.

Call It Off: Why don't NBA owners go ahead and cancel the 2011-12 season now and save themselves and fans a ton of grief? The players may be greedy, but it was the owners who gave away the house to start with.
