Front Row: From The Cheap Seats

Edited By Larry Harris

Try To Keep Up: Not that it's a bad thing, but the NFL has finally capitulated to the gamblers. The league has ordered all teams to show real-time fantasy stats on their scoreboards.

Sky Is Limit: Why doesn't some NFL team go ahead and announce a $200 million contract? That would have about as much chance of being fulfilled as the $100 million deals that teams and agents love to put out there for the gullible media.

Remember When: Only oldtimers can appreciate the words of Tom Powers in the Twin Cities Pioneer Press as he described Vikings rookie QB Christian Ponder as "running around like Fran Tarkenton on hallucinogens."

Record Catch: Maryland fishermen, move over. Greg Myerson, casting last month in Long Island Sound, nailed the world record rockfish -- or striped bass.  His monster weighed 81.88 pounds. The Maryland record is 57.2 pounds, by Gary Smith at Assateague in 2006.

Musical Question: Is there a law somewhere that says it is illegal for the national anthem to be sung as it was written before sporting events?
