FanFest Kicks Off Another Orioles Season

January 16, 2012

By Ray Schulte, SchulteAuctions.com

The Orioles announced they were kicking off the 2012 baseball season with their annual FanFest, Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Baltimore Convention Center.

The one-day FanFest is presented by the Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau. It will feature appearances by current and former Orioles players, coaches and current manager Buck Showalter.

The Orioles have an autograph policy designed to shorten wait times and support youth charities. Children ages 4-14 will have a designated kids-only player autograph station, presented by Esskay, which is free of charge and will be open throughout the day. Other Esskay autograph stations will require the advance purchase of autograph vouchers, exclusively at Orioles.com.

Do you have questions or suggestions for the front office? FanFest features a great opportunity to hear from front office executives, coaches, players, media and Showalter in public question-and-answer sessions. Fans will also enjoy clinics for children, a collectible/memorabilia area, a spring training exhibit and an opportunity to purchase single-game tickets for the 2012 season.

SchulteAuctions.com will be one of the high-profile memorabilia exhibitors set up at FanFest. The monthly online vintage sports and entertainment auction house is currently buying and accepting quality consignments. Anyone with a question about an item and/or needing advice about authentication and appraisals can stop by the exhibitor booth and say hello.

In addition, Sports Jewelry by Dana Hoiles will be displaying and selling baseball and football sports jewelry and apparel. The non-profit Kids-Peace will also be on site exhibiting. KidsPeace provides foster youth and families, in crisis, needed programs and services throughout Baltimore and the surrounding communities.

Tickets for FanFest are on sale now, available online at Orioles.com/FanFest, by phone at 1-888-848-BIRD and on site the day of the event at the Baltimore Convention Center and Orioles box office. FanFest will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and there is complimentary parking for FanFest attendees available in Lot B/C.

Baltimore Colts Original NFL Charter To Highlight Super Bowl XLVI Auction
One of Baltimore's most significant pieces of historical documentation, the Baltimore Colts NFL charter, will highlight the Super Bowl XLVI Auction. Hunt Auctions will conduct the NFL-sanctioned live auction, which will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, at the NFL Experience in Indianapolis, Ind.

This is the only known Baltimore Colts NFL Charter from when the Colts were admitted to the NFL in 1953. It has never been out of the consignor's hands since he rescued it, because of minor fire damage, from the Baltimore Colts' office trash bin. With permission from the Colts executives, the consignor took the 14x16 original document and had it restored.

This rare, Baltimore and NFL historical document is signed by then-NFL commissioner Bert Bell. It is consigned to Hunt Auctions, and collectors can view, register and bid on the Baltimore Colts NFL charter and other Super Bowl XLVI items by visiting HuntAuctions.com starting Jan. 15.
