Baltimore Ravens Sign Cornerback Brandon Carr

March 16, 2017
The Baltimore Ravens have agreed in principle to a four-year contract with free agent cornerback Brandon Carr, general manager/executive vice president Ozzie Newsome announced March 16

Carr, 30, enters his 10th NFL season after never missing a start in his career (144-consecutive games) while playing for the Dallas Cowboys (2012-16) and Kansas City Chiefs (2008-11). The 6-0, 210-pounder has registered 477 tackles, 15 interceptions (two returned for touchdowns), 109 passes defensed, nine fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

Carr's 144-consecutive starts rank as the NFL's longest active streak among cornerbacks, with the next closest being Arizona CB Patrick Peterson (96). (Carr's 144 rank sixth among all active NFL players.)

While playing for Dallas this past season, Carr posted 61 tackles (53 solo), one interception and nine passes defensed. He was a key contributor to a Cowboys' defense that helped the team produce a 13-3 record and No. 1 overall seed in the NFC playoffs.

Stated Newsome: "This is a good football player. We got better today."

Carr will travel to Baltimore early next week to take a physical and sign his contract. The Ravens will hold a press conference after he has done so.
