10 Questions With Ravens Safety Eric Weddle

December 10, 2017
PressBox caught up with Ravens safety Eric Weddle.

PressBox: What's your favorite "cheat" food?
Eric Weddle: Ice cream.

PB: Who was your favorite sports star when you were a kid?
EW: I have a couple. If it's basketball, Kobe Bryant. If it's golf, Tiger Woods. Baseball: Ken Griffey Jr. Football: Emmitt Smith.

PB: If you weren't playing football what would you be doing for a living?
EW: Special education teacher at the high school level. I got my degree in mild to moderate disabilities in special education. Do that, teach and be a high school coach.

PB: On a scale of one (terrible) to 10 (awesome), what is your cooking ability?
EW: Ten. I love to barbecue, I love to saute, I love to marinate, smoke things. And I can also just follow recipes. I like the challenge of cooking. It's easier on my wife, because the kids like to mess with her.

PB: What's your favorite thing to do on an off day?
EW: Play with my kids, wrestle with them. If I have time, go to the movies. I love going to the movies, whether it's by myself or with my wife or friends.

PB: What's your favorite city to visit on the road?
EW: Dallas was always fun. Minneapolis. They have a cool indoor mall, movie theater really close. When I was in San Diego all those years I'd find the nearest movie theater and watch at least two or three movies on the road on Saturday.

PB: What is your all-time favorite movie?
EW: That's tough. It has to go probably by genre. "Braveheart," "Gladiator," "The Transformers," "Lord of the Rings," "Interstellar." I'm more of an action, sci-fi guy.

PB: Do you have any pets?
EW: We used to have two dogs. We gave them away when we had our fourth kid. We had a golden retriever and a boxer. Had them for eight years. We gave them to some family friends. But we're getting another.

PB: What's on your bucket list as far as a place to visit that you've never been to before?
EW: A couple years ago it was the Masters, but my buddy (Charley Hoffman) plays on tour and he was able to get me tickets because he played in it. ... Alaska comes to mind. My parents have been there. A long time ago, took a cruise and spent like 10 days, and they said out of all the trips they've ever done it was their favorite.

PB: What's your favorite thing about Baltimore?
EW: I probably can't say one, but it's a football town. I feel like I fit in with the people here. The food's great, there's a lot to do. ... Our kids and ourselves, we're always outdoors doing something.
