In a battle of two top teams, McDonogh defeated Loyola, 12-7, May 1. The Eagles improved to 12-4, while the Dons fell to 13-4.
Calvert Hall (13-3) lost to Boys' Latin and McDonogh in April but is on a four-game winning streak entering its matchup against Loyola May 8.
Glenelg, Hereford and Severna Park have used early-season defeats as building blocks for possible MPSSAA playoff runs.

The private school teams in the top 10 are now deep into the IAAM playoffs.
IAAM first-round games began May 4. St. Mary's, Archbishop Spalding, St. Paul's, Roland Park, and the shocker, Mount de Sales, advanced to the next round. Mount de Sales pulled off an overtime victory against then-No. 5 Bryn Mawr. McDonogh, Glenelg Country and Notre Dame Prep had first-round byes.
The quarterfinals took place May 7. McDonogh beat St. Mary's, St. Paul's topped Spalding, Notre Dame Prep blew out Mount de Sales and Glenelg Country beat Roland Park.
McDonogh will host St. Paul's and Glenelg Country will host Notre Dame Prep in the semifinals May 9.
The postseason is around the corner for the public school teams as well. Glenelg ended the regular season on a 10-game winning streak.
