PressBox’s Rich Dubroff caught up with Orioles reliever Richard Bleier to ask him about his childhood sports hero, his cooking abilities and his dog, Rocky.
PressBox: What’s a habit you wish you didn’t have?
Richard Bleier: I’ve got a sweet tooth. It’s not a habit, but it’s definitely something I could get rid of.
PB: What’s your favorite guilty pleasure fast-food order?
RB: After a long day of fishing, I will go to McDonald’s and order a bunch of double cheeseburgers.
PB: What’s your favorite pregame meal or snack?
RB: Lately, I’ve been doing a burger with an egg on it.
PB: Who was your favorite sports star when you were a kid?
RB: Ken Griffey, Jr.
PB:What would you be doing if you weren’t playing baseball?
RB: I was a year away from getting a degree in criminal justice, so probably something in law enforcement.
PB: Are you a good cook? What’s your best dish?
RB: Fish we catch and cook up the same night. It’s pretty hard to mess that up.
PB:What’s your favorite thing to do on an off-day?
RB: We’ll take the dog out and let him play at a dog park.
PB: What kind of dog do you have?
RB: A lab mix named Rocky. We got him from the humane society.
PB: What’s your all-time favorite movie?
RB: “Austin Powers in Goldmember.”
PB:What exercise do you hate doing?RB: Running. You’ve got to do it, though.
