Maryland, UConn Women's Hoops To Play Home-And-Home Series

February 8, 2019
COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland women's basketball team announced an upcoming two-year series with Connecticut starting in the 2020-21 season.

The Terrapins and the Huskies will meet in back-to-back series, with the Terps making a trip to Connecticut in 2020-21 and the Huskies making a return trip to College Park in 2021-2022.

Dates and times for the matchups will be determined at a later date.

"This is a great series for our program's future," head coach Brenda Frese said. "We want to play the best and we want to give our fans the opportunity to watch the best basketball in the country. I know all of Terp Nation will be out in full force."

Maryland (21-2, 10-2 B1G) and Connecticut (20-2, 9-0 AAC) have met seven times, all since 2012. In the Huskies' last trip to College Park, a sellout crowd of 17,950 came out to the XFINITY Center as Connecticut held off Maryland, 87-81, in December 2016.

The Terrapins are ranked No. 10 in the latest Associated Press poll and No. 8 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. They have won six straight games and own a half-game lead atop the Big Ten standings.

The Huskies are ranked No. 5 in both polls and won two straight games this week.
