Maryland Basketball Climbs In Top 25 Polls

Maryland men's basketball climbs three spots to No. 21 in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll, released March 11.

Gonzaga (29-2) remains in the top spot in both polls, followed by Virginia (28-2) and North Carolina (26-5).

The Terps (22-9 overall, 13-7 in the Big Ten) defeated Minnesota, 69-60, at Xfinity Center March 8. With the win, Maryland closed out the regular season with a 15-4 record at home.

Junior guard Anthony Cowan led all Terps scorers with 21 points, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range. Freshman forward Jalen Smith (19 points, 11 rebounds) and sophomore center Bruno Fernando (11 points, 11 rebounds) both posted double-doubles.

Up next, the Terps face the winner of the Nebraska-Rutgers first-round game in the Big Ten Ten tournament March 14.
